The training program on negotiations in relation to interests and disputes will be held by an internationally renowned expert, attorney, mediator and chairman of the World Forum of Mediation Centres, Mr. Thierry GARBY.
The school of negotiations will take place on the 4th and 5th March 2013 on the premises of the ECDR, Tomšičeva 6, Ljubljana.
The training will be conducted in English (no translation will be provided).
The participants will receive a certificate of training in Harvard school of negotiations.
The training is suitable for attorneys, mediators, in-house lawyers, lawyers employed by public authorities, executives and those, who wish to:s
- optimize their opportunities to conduct business or conclude agreements,
- avoid unnecessary, expensive and time consuming conflicts,
- achieve the best possible solution in any negotiation.
The fee amounts to 600 EUR (VAT excluded).

The training will be conducted as a workshop. Consequently, the number of participants is limited to 20. The registration remains open until all places are taken. The registration deadline is 18th February 2013.
Representatives of ECDR will participate an international conference on the 30th November 2012 titled »Launching a mediation institute in Republic of Kazakhstan» . ECDR will be present with posts “Referring disputes to mediation: Whether or when?” and “Who is responsible for coordination of teaching mediation and preparation of trainers?”. The purpose of the conference is to exchange good practices and introduce their potential implementation in institution of Republic of Kazahstan which will promote and offer mediation as alternative procedure.
Representatives of ECDR will on the 19th November 2012 at 6PM in Ljubljanas’ Faculty of Law participate at the event AkademYa under organization of The Ypsilon Institute. ECDR will represent a post »Future belongs to ADR« with wide explanation what causes conflicts, why parties of an in-court conflict can't find solutions to it, what are modern approaches and procedures, which criteria is crucial at choice of the procedure, what are basic differences between consultancy, mediatory and arbitrary procedures and what is the optimal future model of ADR. The presentation will also expose some comparisons between USA and EU ADR model.
Representatives of ECDR will participate on the International Conference » European Network for Mediation«, which will take place on 1.-2. November in Buglaria. The conference aims towards establishing network of mediators and mediation organizations for cooperation in international civil proceedings thus improving the access to alternative justice. Representatives of ECDR will participate at UIA World Forum of Mediation Centres, which will take place on 5 and 6 October 2012 in Zagreb. To gain effective way of solving consumer disputes, which quantity is growing rapidly, we will introduce to wide expert public our model of effective consumer-related dispute resolution, which is based on hybrid med-arb procedure. Advantages of using the model will be presented also trough the business perspective with highlighting the competitive advantages of the adopted mechanism.
ECDR is organizing a Mediation cocktail with Colin Wall, which will take place on Thursday, 4 October 2012, from 3 PM to 5 PM, at the premises of ECDR, Tomšičeva 6, Ljubljana.
Colin J. Wall is a mediator and lead mediation trainer in Hong Kong, Executive Director of Global Mediation Service Ltd. and Co-President of the UIA World Forum of Mediation Centres. He will speak about the potential of mediation in doing business and in implementation of investment projects. The lecture will be held in English. In association with AmCham Slovenia we are announcing business luncheon to be held on 24. September 2012 on which representatives of Europen Centre for Dispute Resolution will speak about managing risks in deals and disputes. Special guest of the luncheon will be Mr. Michael McIlwrath, Associate General Counsel - Litigation for GE Oil & Gas who represents his division in disputes world-wide, including work in negotiations, mediation, and arbitration. He is a member of the board of directors and past president of the International Mediation Institute (IMI), a non-profit organization based in the Hague promoting the development of mediation as a profession around the world. Mr. Michael McIlwrath will present dispute prevention, management and resolution policy at GE Oil & Gas – why and how they refer disputes to alternative dispute resolution and what are the main benefits of such dispute solving especially opposite to litigation.
